第39回 短期変動要因のひとつオプション・トリガーとは？！【大橋ひろこのなるほど！わかる！初めてのFX】
ドル円相場の上値が重くなって来ました。安倍トレードと呼ばれた「株高円安」相場は一呼吸でしょうか。それとも、もう終わってしまったのでしょうか。
11月14日の野田首相の解散発言以降、リフレ政策を掲げて注目を集めてきた自民党安倍総裁。安倍氏の発言がある度に円安が加速するので、安倍氏の発言に反応するアルゴリズムシステムが存在するのでは、という冗談も飛び交ったようですが、11月22日の82.83円が高値となり、揉み合いに入ってしまっています。
失速の背景には、安倍氏の発言がトーンダウンしていることや、第3極にも日々動きがあり政局の行方にも不透明感が漂っていることが考えられますが、83円台には大口のオプション・トリガー（バリアーとも言います）の防戦売りがあったことも意識されていたようです。為替市場では、オプションの存在が短期的な価格変動要因の一つとして解説されることも多いのですね。オプションとは、一定期間後の定められた日に特定の価格で買い付ける（又は売り付ける）ことのできる権利のことです。コールが買う権利。プットが売る権利。そしてオプション・トリガーとはその値が付いたらオプションの発生や消滅が起こる条件となる価格のことを指します。
詳細解説は割愛しますが、要するに83円台にはその価格がついたら権利が消滅してしまう為、83円台を付けさせたくない向きと、それを狙って値段を付けさせようとする向きと、熾烈な戦いがあるということ。オプションの買い手は権利行使のために、83円を付けさせないために83円手前で売り注文を出すでしょうし、そのオプションの売り手は付けさせてオプション権利を消滅させようと買いで攻める、ということが考えられます。思惑が拮抗することで、価格が止まり動きにくくなってしまうのです。
前々回のコラムで、IMM通貨先物ポジションについて書きました。ヘッジファンド勢などの短期筋のポジションの偏りを見ることで、それが巻き返されるエネルギーを予測するという見方もあるのですが、11月30日時点での円の売り越しは7万9466枚と、2007年5月以来の高水準に達したことが明らかとなりました。5年半ぶりです。リーマン・ショック前の円キャリートレード全盛期時点のボリュームまで投機筋が円売りを仕掛けてきたということです。今回の円安相場、海外投機筋が主導してきたと見てもいいのかもしれませんね。ここから考えられる次のシナリオは、円売りポジションが巻き戻されて、円高が進むとの予想。すでに警戒感が浮上しているからドル円相場が上がりにくくなっているものと思われます。
しかし、投機筋は通貨先物市場で誰にでも見えるポジションを構築する一方でオプション市場で全く別の取引をしていたりします。そのため、IMMポジション動向だけでこの先円高になると予測するのは危険だと指摘する向きもあります。IMMポジション、オプション・トリガー、中央銀行の金融政策に経済指標と、為替の変動要因は多岐に渡るため、また市場の参加者も取引量も膨大ですのでどれか一つの材料を取り上げて先を読むのは無理があるでしょう。IMMポジション動向やオプション情報は短期的な変動の背景には存在するでしょうけれど、一つの目安と考えるに留めたほうがいいということ覚えておいて下さいね。
その上で今後を予測すると、IMMポジションは5年半ぶりの水準ということで、短期的な巻き返しからのドル円相場反落もあるとは思いますが、貿易収支の赤字、日本の製造業の現状などから円高の構造には大きな変化が生じていると考えられ、投機筋が仮にポジションを手仕舞ったとしても、再度円売りを仕掛けてくるものと思っています。また、これまで防戦売りで上値を抑えていた83円00~50銭の大口のオプション・トリガーが今日4日に満期を迎えるとも指摘されており、上値が軽くなることも考えられます。今週末には米雇用統計が発表されますので、アメリカの雇用状況も意識される相場になってくるかと思いますが、ドル円相場は調整があれば買い拾う方向で戦略を練っています。
それと、こうしたオプション・トリガーはひとたび防戦に失敗すればオプションを買った向きは、防戦のために仕込んだ（83円を付けないために仕込んだ）ドル円の売りポジションを処分しなくてはならないため、買い戻しからドル円上昇が加速するだろうという思惑も広がるため、一気に上昇が加速することもあるので覚えておきましょう。
